FM-1849-57 Smoke Tunnel
A vertical wind tunnel with a suction mechanism is equipped with smoke visualization, making it suitable for demonstrating and investigating airflow around various models.
Designed for small group experiments or classroom demonstrations, this floor-standing apparatus features a variable-speed fan mounted at the top, generating vertical upward airflow through the working section. A comb, situated below the working section, can be moved from side to side by students to facilitate aerodynamic investigations of the test model. The smoke generator, connected to the comb, utilizes a high-quality food grade oil to produce non-toxic smoke, which is evenly distributed through a filter for consistent airflow.
The front wall of the transparent and removable working section allows for easy attachment of optional models and provides a clear view of the smoke trails. Lamps positioned on both sides of the working section enhance visibility of the smoke. The wind tunnel is mounted on a mobile metal frame with castors for easy mobility, and the fan speed controls are located on a control unit attached to the frame.
